98+ Back Glass Compatiblity

So I'm shopping around for new back glass and I want to get another slider one. I found one at a local JY for $75 from a 2003.

My question is, I know all 98+ are interchangeable but what about extended/supercab to standard cab?

All the same. Called my mommy and she told me the answer without even ooking it up lol. Yes, theyre all interchangeable. All exteneded cab rear windows will fit the regular cab rear window on any vehicle

If you buy a new one, a solid back glass is cheaper

Don't forget about the Mazda B-Series, they fit too. I got mine out of one.

I picked a yard out and just got back from paying for it. $75, not too shabby. Should have it tomorrow, now I just need to go get a new seal.

A glass shop (Advanced Auto Glass) quoted me $200 for an aftermarket replacement. Nice ones from the JY that were spotless were $100 to $150. JPs Mom said it was $220 through her company.

Funny story, went to McDonalds for lunch, pull in next to a 99-00 Ranger and the driver side glass pane on the rear glass was cracked and splintered just like mine and it was all covered in clear masking tape. I asked the guy how he did it, he said he slammed the slider shut and it cracked the glass HAHAHAHA. I guess it wasn't a freak accident after all. Design flaw for 99-00s maybe?

Yeah, Advanced Auto Glass comes and installs as well. I figure $100-$125 is worth the 2 hours of time is takes for me to put it in. Plus I get a OE slider instead of an aftermarket replacement.

Hey Anthony, hows the 1/4 seal working for you? I went with a 3/8 last time and it was too big IMO. Made tightening the window down more difficult and it flexed the glass a bit. I went with 1/4 inch this time since that's what you went with. How did that go?

It seemed a little smaller than the stock but I think that was because OEM stuff was pushed out over time.

As for leaks I haven't had any so far and its been about 9 months (maybe a little more). Plus its been storming here like its the end of the world.

Also my explorer seats are pushed up against it pretty hard, so if it was gonna leak I'm sure it would have done so by now.

I LOVE my slider, but if it's got a weak point that causes it to blow out my back window I will ditch it haha.
