We have a problem with the clutch and brake pedals. When you press one, they both go down together. What can I do to fix it?

You will need to replace the bushings on the pedal assembly or get a new pedal assembly if its broken at the top

Could have something like this on the assembly: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...181-jpg.56495/

I think 1995 thru 2006 Rangers or Mazda B-series used the same pedal assembly

Setup looks like this: https://www.justanswer.com/uploads/f..._211833_a1.gif

The clutch pedal is attached to the main shaft that runs thru the assembly, the brake pedal is free floating and just uses the shaft as a pivot point
But there are several bushing, plastic, than can wear out
Probably best just to pull the assembly to rebuild or replace

Here is an Ebay listing for that assembly: https://www.ebay.com/itm/31406565745...%7CMake%3AFord

Dorman has a rebuild kit, seen here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/26502115543...%7CMake%3AFord

CLUTCH/BRAKE PEDAL ASSY

Hopefully yours is rebuildable! Mine was so totally rusted I couldn’t even get the shaft out, so had to replace whole assembly: not an easy job, but, with the seat out and LOTS of patience, and maybe one or a dozen swear words, got it done!
