98 splash bumper compatibility
Splash/Stepside/Flareside rear bumpers are narrower than standard bumpers and harder to find. They're available in painted black or chrome and still show up on the auction sites occasionally. LMC currently has them in stock but they're expensive: over $500 for the chrome version AND the quality isn't quite as good as factory IMHO. If you're looking for stock look, they're not bad, though.
The regular rear bumper from a Styleside will directly bolt up but the braces are different (you can get those separately or used) and the bumper will stick out a few inches on each side of your truck, since the flareside box is narrower. You could probably cut/weld/narrow a plain steel one, but if you have those skills and for all that work might as well make a nice custom one or delete.
