No the exhaust manifolds are not the same for head fitment or exhaust pipe hook up

1999 and 2002 4.0l Rangers both used the 5R55E automatic transmissions, but......................been down this road before, in 2001 Ford added an intermediate shaft sensor(ISS) so if you are using the 2002 computer you need this sensor, if you are using the 1999 computer then you don't

Picture here: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0010_large.jpg
ISS circled
2000 and earlier 5R55E didn't have this sensor or hole for it, as seen here: http://www.atraonline.com/gears/1999...gmar99p49a.jpg
The sensor by the bellhousing was never used, and as said, its hole was eliminated in 1999

Oil pan clearance should be the same if both are 2WD or both 4WD

The oil pan from the donor is 4x4 and the 99 Ranger is 2x4 so I'll need a different oil pan then?

Maybe, but the 4x4 oil pan may fit in a 2WD, but not the other way around
