Adjusting alignment yourself

Sorry, I'm not sure what thread this should go in. so the problem is that the steering wheel is crooked. and while driving the steering feels off, I don't know quite how to describe it. while moving the wheel to steer it just doesn't quite control the vehicle as I expect it to. I can manage this but would like to fix it if I can, and I think if I get it realigned that could fix it. The only thing is I am not willing, and can't really afford, to take it to a shop and pay for a mechanic to fix it. so I was wondering if anyone on here could tell me if it is a good idea to try and do the realignment myself. and if so are there any tips you could give me on doing this.

No, self alignment is similar to self medication, does not work well in the long run

If you are new to Ford Trucks then you may not know you don't "drive" them, you "herd" them down the road, they do not have precise steering like say........................EVERY OTHER VEHICLE ON THE ROAD

That being said alignment shops often get lazy, and they will use the locking steering wheel to hold the wheel while they do the alignment, and this is NEVER in the center

They should center the steering wheel and then tie it off and then do the alignment, you need to ask them to do that, now-a-days
