Advice Needed: Fuel/Stalling Issue
Advice Needed: Fuel/Stalling Issue
I have a 1986 Ranger XL 2.9
I've had a problem for a couple months where if I'm driving for about 30 - 45 min. and I come to a stop and try to accelerate again the truck will start to sputter. Sometimes it will suddenly kick in and I can get moving again but only enough so I can pull over. If I came to another stop it's likely it will sputter again and stall completely.
I noticed it was more likely to occur in warmer weather. One odd thing as well is I've noticed when this starts to occur the power steering starts to feel a little weak. Also there's a noticeable whining sound from under the hood near the firewall in front of the driver.
I've had recent tune-ups and oil changes - last time the fuel filter was replaced however was 2 years ago.
Any ideas as to the culprit?
Thanks.

id try first putting a good fuel treatment threw you fuel tank as you might have moisture in your tank. Second id try a new fuel filter. This new fuel plays havock on fuel systems and causes rubber hoses to flake and stop up stuff.
