Advice on rear disc brakes upgrade
#51
calipers were off a mustang forum parts guy. Then I got brackets sliders bolts and pads from auto zone. Then spent about a week painting the heck out of everything. Used rustolium protective enamel and I am real happy with the results! it held up to all the brake fluid I spilled on them so must be ok lol!

Just so you know the rear 10" brakes are the same for the 6 cyl. Find a bashed up 6 banger mustang and get the calipers and anti-moan bracket. Then pick up a set of aftermarket mustang main brackets and have a set of SS braided lines made to fit the original hardline. That's what I went with and it works flawlessly. I even made a little spacer that allowed me to use the original e-brake cables.

There is starting to be a lot of conflicting info in this thread. Like someone stating earlier that the caliper brackets (that mount to the axle brackets) are what pushes the caliper far enough out to clear the larger Cobra rotors. If it's not the caliper brackets then it has to be the axle brackets that are different.

this is a mustang caliper (all mustangs 94-04 use this base gt cobra)
.
this is a mustang caliper bracket (cobra specific)
This is a mustang caliper axle bracket (cobra specific)
Then the anti moan braces are different as well.
That sort things out for you? as soon as you start part shopping it makes a lot more sense.

Yah a lot of the write-ups are very ****ty written. Small details are obvious to you when you've installed the parts but I haven't seen them nor ****ed with disc brakes in the rear (hurrr ranger comes with drums as stock). So yes, expect people to not have the same experience as you.

Ha ya it worked fine for me, but I also had my dads car too with working cobra brakes to supplement the write up. I was just stoked to find those Currie lines and get rid of the adapters.

Grants write up is for 28-spline stock Ranger axles (7.5 or 8.8). The best way to do disks on a Level II 31-spline is do the direct Explorer disk swap. They go right on, no bracket cutting required.

As long as it comes with the actual caliper brackets. NOT the axle brackets, I see those in the first link. The second link it shows the caliper brackets on the calipers, but also says "*Product images may differ from actual product appearance." It doesn't mention in the text, anything about the actual brackets.
EDIT: I'd call em to be sure.. Please call us at 1-800-MUSTANG if you have any questions!

We celebrate Christmas here. We have all of the family over for a huge dinner. Then another dinner the next day at other family members houses. We buy quite a bit for my nieces but otherwise we have quit buying for everyone else/each other. There's a point in your life when you have everything you really NEED. We just took the "commercial-ness" out of Christmas and celebrate it for what it really is, instead of using it as an excuse to be needy, greedy, and focusing on material possessions.

He was just pointing out the caliper bracket(its in his post above if you havent read it yet) so ill order the stuff tonight but ill call tomorrow to 100% verify. I'm excited though. When all the **** is in I'll read the how-tos again.

I'm sure the caliper brackets are included, like it shows in the picture, but it's one of those things that would really **** you off when it showed up at your house and it wasn't included. The price and the picture seems to indicate that they are in the kit.. Better safe than sorry (pissed later) ya know...
