Icon2 AIR BOX MODIFICATION QUESTION

2000 3L 6cyl v-tech, I have already done the "airbox mod" and she is working just fine and sounds good when you really get on it, my question is, can i make the entrance into the air box bigger therefore increasing sound..? will it increase sound? and if not then what are some fast and easy ways to increase sound out of ranger, i aint a ricer and dont want to spend 150+ for a exhaust system, thank you guys

i cut 2 small circles in the bottom maybe an inch in diameter in case water ever got it in would drain out.. and one 3-4 inch hole in the side and i did notice a difference in sound but i have the 4.0

yea, i took jigsaw and cut another hole in the front side of the airbox about the same size hole as origional without air silencer, it sounds "louder" but doesnt do that much, just waste gas
