Icon5 Air Filter Question

I need a new air filter. What are the pros vs. cons of a cheap-o paper filter vs. a K&N(or some other brand)type Drop in filter? Which is better & Why?

Thanks!
Mike

These are some but the site is slow for some reason otherwise I would get more.

I have K&N and I'm happy with it.

I really like my Amsoil air filter, it is a micro fiber filter and it filters very well, and you don't have to worry about oil in the intake like a K&n, I had that problem in the past.....

ive ran the K&N filter its ok. works well if you like to submerge your truck in water alot.

but overall i like my paper filter the most. and i ran a K&N filter from day one when i bought my truck switched back to the stock paper one about 20k miles ago and i like it alot better.

oil filters make the IAC and MAF dirty so it will require you to clean them

would it be a drawback to use a 'oily' filter living in a really dusty city?
I say paper filters are better when in dusty conditions, what u think?

well I was saying that because of the oil in the filter creating some sort of sludge with extreme dust.

Aem makes a dry air filter kit for you truck. The link to the product is http://www.aempower.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=741. Have not tried a dry flow filter yet so I cannot comment on it's performance, but I have heard positive reviews. I had a K&N and it screwed up my mass air flow sensor in 20k. Tried to clean it and still was outputting the wrong grams per second so dealer replaced sensor. I now run only Amsoil dry filters. Hope this helps.
