any ideas what this wire is for

There is a brown/white/yellow/green ribbon, like for brakes turns lights on trailers. that is tied into the left aft brake light and runs to the engine bay. next to battery. but has nothing attached to it just stops. any ideas what this was for.

was your truck towed behind a motorhome or something where it was flat towed? sounds like it is for the brakelights when in-tow

not to my knowledge. I have only owned it for a year. it has just over 40K miles and i dont remember seeing mount for hitch or scuff marks. the ones that are there are from my accident (stupid women in nissan doest know how to yield) i digress. there isnt a plug in engine bay. its just coiled up between batt and sob. and just a straight cut thought all of them

i would still guess that it was flat towed, look for holes for the front tow bar that would have been mounted
