Anyone know of any hand held winchs?

Does anyone know of a good hand held winch? Maybe 6000lbs! I dont have the money to buy a $800 winch seeing as im only 16! I should soon have a 1995 2wd Ranger manuel! So I was wondering if there are any good or ok hand held winchs out there! I've seen one for atvs(800 lbs) that clips on to the front or back racks and then is just a pully system! I will Definetly be installing Tow hooks front and back cause I know Ill get stuck @least once!Ha

You could buy a cheapass piece of **** 4x4 truck :) Find like an oldass plow truck...nevermind your from Tennessee I'm talkin crazy talk. But if you found an old 4wd piecer it could be your recovery vehicle.

Im from GA moved to TN jan. 6th!!!
You mean whenever I get stuck just walk home get the 4wd and come tow MYSELF out? then how do I get the TWO trucks home? I am definetly buying tow hooks and a tow strap! But should I just get a cheap milemarker or superwich? I checked the specs for a 95 ranger and it said its curb weight was like 3800 so should I get a 5k or 6k pound winch if I got one?
Also where should I or can I buy GOOD quality but inexpensive tow hooks?
Thanks for the help guys im new to the hole 4x4ing thing so all the help would be appreciated! God Bless![U]

a comealong is way to lightweight, get some freinds with 4x4s to be your winch....

I would just get a milemarker pe8000 379$? or the harbor freight 8000#winch(299$)
they are both made in china in the same factory.

Then again how are you going to mount it...

I movED to TN from Georgia on the 6th of jan!
I dont have any friends with trucks seeing as I have only been here a little while! I could just do what I did when I got stuck in my car, walk up, in the rain none the less, and flag a 4x4 tacoma down to effortlessly pull me out! The ground was REALLY slippery and when the Taco pulled me out his tires didnt even spin!!! Thats awsome! Well all cause of a posi trac rear end and 4wd!

A tacoma is no more capable off-road than a Ranger. I have owned both, and my Ranger (B4000) is quite stout in any condition. If you want to spend an extra couple grand to get a Taco go right ahead, but don't fool yourself. That Posi you mentioned is really a limited slip, and it is available in the Ranger just the same as the Taco. If you really want traction, you can do what I did, buy a non Limited Slip and then install an Auburn ECTED. Limited slip under normal conditions, and then full on locker when selected. You could lock up the front and back of a Ranger and still have cash left over compared to a taco. If I had a dollar for every time I pulled my father in laws Taco out of the sand in my ranger I would be rich!!!

I dont have the money to repair a ranger when I break stuff on it cause its a, forgive me for sayin this, A ford! I know Henry Ford invented the assembly line and all but, I love Toyotas and they are VERY RELIABLE! Not saying the rangers arent! In my opinion, the Rangers and the mustangs are the best vehicles made by Ford!!! And they are pretty inexpensive for the stuff on them stock!!!
Plus I can get GREAT prices on toyota arts where I live!!! So that has a lot to do with it! But if I get the ranger I would be extatic cause its an awsome truck!!!
