Anyone work at Ford dealership?

I am trying to find out when the production of the 2011 Ranger would be ending i would preferabbly order one around summer, i called a local dealer they didn't know "stop in and ask for (salesman name) i can i find out for you" Id rather not go the the showroom and go through all the hoops when im 5-6 months away from being ready.
I also e-mailedFord cust serv and they replied the wern't sure due to 'variables'
My current 02 was built in August 02' hopefully for my schedule it will go that long. TIA :)

What downgrade? The current ones are garage. The standard 4x4 is now 2 inches lower, doesn't come with limited slip, has no option for LS, no FX4 package, no skid plates, no 31-spline 8.8, has that crappy stability control.

Trust me, most of the guys here would kill to have an 02-03 FX4/FX4 Level II, keep it and cherish it.

I work at a dealer but I dont know. I heard from sales that the replacement is a F100. I dont know if its a fullsize truck like it used to be or a compact. I would think the 4.0 will be be done either way.

The F-100 was scrapped forever ago. The Ranger is being replaced with the V6 F-150 and the new Transit Connect. And the new Fiesta lol.

Oh good, because nobody wants a compact pickup. Right?

I would rock a mid-sized F-100 if they made one. Something just slightly larger than a ranger, but nowhere near the full-size... I don't need or want a truck that big. Ford is stupid to get rid of the ranger w/o a replacement. Every other company has a compact or mid-sized truck and their full-sized lines, I'm sure it's for good reason.

Indeed it is, just checked.

That's interesting, I wonder how that would work with the Stability Control.

We heard rumors that for a little while way back when that an F-100 was going to replace the ranger, i even read an article somewhere about it, but as of lately, haven't sold a Ranger in about a month. the average price of a ranger (2wd, automatic, supercab) is around 24.5K where as i can go over to the used lot, find a low mile F150 for 4.5k less.
Rangers aren't what they used to be.

Indeed. I was thinking about buying a new 2012 Z28 Camaro as my dream car but I'm starting to lean more towards a classic and go with a 67-69 Z28 simply because I know I will be able to work on it. Plus it will be considerably cheaper.

Really? I would have thought ur cars in the states would be cheaper, but those rangers go for around 17K around here in Canada.
24.5K would be a 4x4 with most options.

I love older Chevy's. I've had 3 '69 Chevelles, one a 4-speed SS 396/375 hp w/ matching numbers. I'll not buy a new Chevrolet unless/until they pay back their debt to the taxpayers and are not wards of the federal government. Be damned if i'm paying them to build the cars AND then pay to buy them. But that's just me.

You had me second guessing my memory. But went to ford.ca, supercab ranger w/4.0L and auto tranny going for 17200 before sales taxes..

I second guessed myself as I was kind of going by prices when I bought mine, at about $26K for a 2008 FX4 w/o leather and w/5spd.
Wierd you guys pay more than we do?? What is up with that.

Totally disagree! Just bought an 2010 to replace my 2002.Yeah it is a little lower but it handles unbelievably better corners really well. And the traction control is awesome especially with all the snow we have. You also have the ability to turn it off if you would like to.

Thanks for all the replys this is what i know from Ford's website about ordering and package avail;
The 'Sport' Package contains the 'FX4' opt's the LS is avail as is the choice for 4:10 also a 110amp altenator just to name a few. The 8.8 has 31 splines the 7.5 had the 28 splines.(no more 7.5 all Rangers get 8.8
how did it get lower? the 4X4 is still using the Torsen bar up front and payload pckg 2 is also avail as a option. same tire size and 16" wheels

I priced mine with the options i wanted comes out to almost $28 msrp neg with the dealer and there are $3500 in incentives or $1000 w/0% finan
I priced it on Edmunds.com and it comes out to $22,400 TMV pricing
I know it's close in price to a F150 but that truck as beautiful as it is with a lot of bells & whistles is just a bit to big for me it would be a tight fit in my garage and i really have no need for a fullsize bed and the parking hassle's
i like the nimble sporty Ranger size and manners.:)

I think Ford is missing alot of the market with the Ranger just because theres no available crewcab. The Sporttrac is a sawed of Explorer that misses the mark of a crewcab midsized pickup. If there isnt a compact or midsized pickup replacment for the Ranger, Ford will make Toyota the healthest manufacturer again.

I agree. The transit isn't a suitable replacement for the ranger. And toyota still has the tacoma.

I'm not sure why they are lower, but they are. I always check out the lots for new Rangers, and when I park next to another 4x4 there is a noticeable difference.

I'm in the same boat. I don't need or want an F150. For one, I don't want an automatic transmission ever, and that's all that's offered in the F150. Secondly, I don't need anything that large, regardless of whether it gets the same or better fuel mileage as a Ranger or not. F150's and other full size trucks used to be a normal size, now you can't even look over the bedside to find and grab something in the back. It's a pissing contest. But most of all, i'm not going to spend money on something I don't want to buy. I understand i'm in the minority, and sales have been declining for years, but that doesn't mean I have to buy or like what the majority does. I'll probably get a Nissan Pro-4x w/ a 6-speed manual next year. As much as I would like to have a new Ranger, unfortunately, I'm not ready to buy @ this point or I would.

they are lower due to smaller blocks and different torsion bar keys.

Ranger 8.8s came with 28-splines. I am guessing since no more FX4 Level II (03-09) (called FX4 Off Road in 02) (the only Ranger that came with 31-splines) no more 31-spline 8.8. And all V6 Rangers now come with the 8.8s since all 4.0s always came with 8.8s and there is no longer any 3.0s (which came with either depending on year and options). If you look at the 2.3L 4cyl Rangers I believe they still sport the 7.5. They may have phased out the 7.5 and all Rangers run the 8.8 but I don't believe so.

It's true that the F-150 gets about the same MPG as a Ranger 4.0L, but you'll pay more in gallons. The least is a 26 gallon tank up to 36. Ranger has what? 20-21?

Wouldn't mind another Ranger but they still xpensive even if it's 5 years old :(
