So I just bought a 97 XLT standard cab. It rides pretty well overall, but the back sits way higher than the front. I looked and I don't see any lifting blocks. Is something just worn out? I'm going to take a picture today and try and post it.
Check rear shackles, leaf spring holders, previous owner may have changed them to get higher stance in the rear
But one benefit is better MPG.............................because you always going DOWNHILL, lol
Copy that! I'll check those. What exactly am I looking for? Not sure what the orientation should be as this is my first ranger. And it definitely LOOKS like it's driving downhill 😂
There were different setups, google: ford ranger rear shackles images
I took a picture of what mine look like right now. Is that the correct orientation? Can I just remove that drop shackle or is it necessary for suspension geometry?
If it was modified for more load capacity, that could make it sit higher, just because the springs can flex more due to the load and still leave room for normal sway and bumps etc to not hit the stop.
The new ranger I have has 1860 lb load capacity, and it sits even higher in the rear.
Those are the stock shackles so no modification there.
These trucks left the factory with a slight "rake" to them, most all trucks do. The front of your truck has coil springs, and it's very possible those are just worn out.

I'd second this. The first thing I thought when looking at the pics above was, Geez the front looks low.
Yeah it's not an edge. I think I may end up installing the rough country 1.5" level springs in the front to get it to sit level. Anyone have experience with those?
