Backed into a pole.
Okay so I'm out of Iowa doing work in Wisconsin and I was in a store parking lot at night and I went to back up out of my spot...well instead of backing straight up I turned my wheels a little and slowly backed up and then BANG. It felt like another car rear ended me or I backed into someones car. So I turn my head and look in my rear window and there is one of those huge light poles with the yellow concrete around it that screams "You'd have to be a idiot to hit this!". Well I was that idiot.
So I put my truck into 1st gear and quickly find a empty space where no one is around and get out and I expected to see my whole rear bumper and tailgate messed up. Luckily I hit the pole right behind where the license plate is and it only made a small crack in the plastic piece.
The chrome is fine, my main concern is did I do any damage that I can't see? Also how much should I be paying for a replacement bumper step pad? I found this one on Amazon for $82 not 100% sure though if it will fit my 2002 Supercab XLT Amazon.com: Rear Bumper Step Pad for Ford Ranger

I dont think that it did any damage you cant see.
Ive backed into trailer hitches twice... Well actually backed into my truck with someone elses truck that had a hitch on it.
Both times I felt like an Idiot. Once was F150 with blacked out window at 3am. Front Bumper. Just scratched the valiance.
and the 2nd time with a big azz Ram 3500 with a gigantic hitch on the back and I was backing it in and didnt know there was a hitch on it that stuck out as far as it did and bam back bumper has a dent in it.

ditto, I was looking at it thinking I was blind to some insane damage. but I didn't see a thing. the hitch thing reminds of me when a lincoln town car rear ended my dad. we were at a dead stop, guy plowed into my dads hitch and ball going 35. stopped him dead and the only damage, was it cracked the guys grille a little :O I got out of the truck laughing incredibly hard. my dad was busting up too. didn't even hurt my dads truck lol.
A couple years ago I hit the same kinda pole at the auto zone, but different than u I hit it so hard that my bumper was bent in middle by lisence plate. Had to get a new bumper. Oh and by the waY ALL THE EMPLOYES MUSTA heard it because they were all at the window cracking up. All u have there is a ding but it still sucks when its on your truck. Dang ppl cracking up made me feel like I was a big dumb a*S which I was. they were ther just to make sure I knew it by all the laughing. lol another day
I had similar damage to my bumper pad for a trailer that I pulled. I used plastic epoxy (at the hardware store) to patch it up. Used fine grit sandpaper on a palm sander to smooth it down. Then I painted the whole bumper pad with Krylon Fusion.
