Best way to clean engine bay?

I have mud all over in the bay and I was wodner what some of you guys are using to clean it up?
I have a 2800psi pressure washer but i am thinking that will do more harm than good.
Is just using good old elbow grease the best/easiest way?

just try to keep the pressure washer out of direct contact with the major electronics and you will be fine!!!!

actualkly I wouldnt use a power washer, since it has the possibility of pushing water past your seals, and also, alot of these electronics really shouldnt be getting wet.

rince COOL engine with garden hose.. apply solvent of your choice let soak for say 10 -15 minutes - rinse off... let dry for 20 minutes or so, then drive around the block.

I usually use one of those pressure washes at the do-it yourself car washes, that works pretty well and it isn't really that high of pressure.

I've heard people using the bug and tar remover followed by a low pressure rense at the local DYI car wash, they say it works pretty good.

I have never cleaned my engine bay since I bought the Edge. I'm leery of spraying water on things...what would I need to mask to do this properly?

I forgot to add that I only take it to the car wash after I have been mudding and need to get all the mud off. I use Armor-All to make it all shiney after the water dries.

you could put a plastic bag over the coil and fuse box to keep water out... as long as you are not directly spraying those areas you should be fine
