which is better: cold/ram air, air silencer removal?

hey, new here but ive got a 3.0 and i was wondering if the "air box mod" is as good/better/worse than a ram air design directly in front of the MAF. ive got the silencer out now and liking it but which one gives you the little "performence" differnce. I know its a ranger though haha just wondering. thanks yall

Derestricting your intake and a cold airram are both good. If you look at most factory performance models they do both and usually put bigger MAF in aswell and reprogram the ECM and mod the exhaust. Obviously you can do as little or as much as you want.

All the kits I have seen arr not true cold air kits. They are just shiny pipes and cone filters. I have never seen a kit pipe in air from outside the truck always from behind the headlight.

Well neither one really makes a huge difference. But one is free, while some of those CAI kits will run you close to $300 dollars. So I know which one i'd chose.
