Two questions...

What bike rack do you guys like the most for your 2" hitches?

Im carrying a full bed of stuff when i go windsurfing, so the tailgate is up but the bed is full. If i can get a bike rack on the back then i can haul two beach cruisers along with the rest of my gear.

what do you guys like?

also, im looking for a bed extender, what do you guys recommend? obviously i cant use the bed extender with the bike rack but its use would be under different circumstances.

there is this one that is tilted out that looks very useful, anyone have experience with these? not putting any weight on the tailgate, but the added length looks like a cool idea. What are you guys using?

For the rack I'm using a Sportrack "2EZ" I think it's called. Works awesome... no complaints at all! Only pic I can find is one with my old bike and my wife's old Focus! The tube is 1 1/4" but comes with an adapter that sort of snaps on to make it 2".



As for the bed extender... just using a regular Ford one!

 

The bed isn't up to full filled height until 13' 6" to the top of the stack.
You need to learn how to pack better.

 

lol windsurfing is a logistical nightmare :) some of my masts are seven and a half feet long, so are the sails. Right now they hang over the tail gate by a foot or two. I like the sloped tailgate extender but have never seen anyone use them.

Fullscale, that's the rack I'm gonna go with, I actually saw it tonight in sports authority. Its def the proper way to carry the bikes, good call

 

I think they have a newer style out now... mines about 5 years old or so. No risking paint damage on the vehicle or the bikes and it fits pretty much any bike and will go on anything with a hitch... unlike most of the other racks out there!

I've had a bunch of different bikes on mine and it holds them all no matter what style of frame on them! The only thing I've had to replace is one of the velcro straps that secure each wheel. I emailed Sportrack to get some and they mailed them to me free of charge!

I don't think the soft one is gonna hold everything in.

I'm thinking either a ford or equivalent standard type or that one I linked that's bowed out.

Thanks... no longer have it though! That one was an '05 Norco VPS Atomik. I sold it a few years back to buy an '06 Norco Six One. Something a little more practical!

 

Well I ordered the Topline fold up bed extender. Hopefully I won't have to cut up my Bed liner too bad. I like how it stows flat against the tailgate. I'll report back after I install it.

 

Now that is a company I will have to look into since they went above and beyond to keep you happy and sent you a new strap free of charge!

You could use an extender and a bike rack. I've seen some racks that stick out just far enough that the tailgate can be opened. Thus using a bed extender and a bike rack.

Worked very well. The 1-1/4" bar has a plastic wrap-around to fit my 2" receiver and a bolt goes thru the pin hole to pull the hitch bar tight against the receiver. You can remove a pin to tilt the mounted bikes down so that you can open the tailgate fully, albeit it's a heavy lift. With the rack in the up position and bikes loaded, you can still open the tailgate enough to reach in and undo my trifold tonneau cover.

The clamps holding the bikes can rotate so that the angled frame on womens bikes is held so that the bike is horizontal. The last clamp/bolt/handle has a lock - adds somewhat of theft resistance.
