Bored with the Ranger....
I'm bored with my pathetic 3.0 2wd manual. and im really looking into a 2002 dodge ram 4x4 with the 5.9 :D still single cab and with a short box. so itl have to powerrrrr. and enough speed to keep myself satisfied. get er lifted and some tires and itl be my truck for life probably.
How do I sound like an idiot? People get board yes, but the thing that most Americans have become accustomed to is I want what I want the way I want it right now. Basically spoiled non grateful SOB's. Other people including myself have learned to be grateful with what little we have, make the best of it and not complain as to not have the latest piece of fashion crap. The Ranger does the best at what it was built for, and if you can't appreciate that then go get a Falcon Lexus prius.
I'm very grateful for what I have. If I wasn't, I wouldn't keep them in the pristine shape I do. However, just because i'm grateful, doesn't mean I can't change what I have. Make sense?
I've read a few of your posts before, and obviously you're pretty narrow minded. So I will let it go with that being said.
I've been on this forum since 07....well before I owned a Ranger. Mostly because a few of my friends drive one, and I wanted to learn how to work on them. I knew more about Rangers then most do before they buy one. When I finally graduated college, I decided to pick one up....but it was like owning one for years before I even had it.
Chances are I will keep the Ranger. I'm usually not one to let go of something i've put money into. But i'm still going to look into getting into something different. Never hurts to try.
Rangers can get pretty boring, i will admit it.
My reason for getting bored with my truck is that there really is not any one thing that the truck is good at. Its not really comfortable, it doesn't get great mileage, its not totally awesome off road, its not a great truck to tow with, and its not really all that fast. The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of don't (s) and can't (s) when it comes to ranger ownership. I don't think i speak for everyone, but i think i speak for a lot of people when i say that the mediocre(ness) of this truck is what makes it kind of boring to drive.
And on the other hand, the ranger is kind of a jack of all trades - master of none. Its not the worst thing to be in for a road trip, it wont challenge an econobox for mileage - but i don't fear going to the gas station, no i cant wax my friends locked n lifted wrangler off road - but im satisfied with how well it does- even stock, no i cant tow my house with my ranger - but it tows enough things that i never totally feel i am lacking something (no i don't constantly tow things i should point out), and yes- pretty much any newer v-6 vehicle can wax my truck, but my truck is not totally slow and can get out of its own way- which is good enough for me.
Ya - my ranger is pretty boring, but there is something in that boredom that i like. The truth is that i will probably pick up a car in the next year or two....but im not going to get rid of my truck. This is my 4th ranger, 3 times before this i have solely owned a ranger-got bored with it- and sold it. It seems like every time i sell one, give it as little as a year, as much as 3 years and i just have to have a truck again. I know everyone is not the same, and if you don't really want/need a truck- you are probably better off without one. But for me, i have always found myself wanting one.

I understand where your coming from. I drive my truck a week or two then I feel like I have to drive my chevy because I get tired of the ranger. The ranger does have A/C so its nice on hot/humid days. I say do what you feel you can afford and whats right for you if you chose to unload the ranger you can always get another one down the road.
I've had my truck for almost 7 years and I wouldn't say I'm bored with it. It seems like every time I get on here I learn something knew about them.
With that being said, I have a much greater interest in my 77's. That generation truck is absolutely my favorite, that won't lead me to getting rid of the Ranger since it gets so much better mileage.
Realistically, I'll be graduating college next year and (hopefully) getting a job, so I will probably buy a beater car for work travel so I can work on bigger projects for the Ranger.
My Ranger is paid for, I have no desire to add car payments to my list of things I can't afford. I will probably just keep it forever since I won't get much out of selling it.

I've had mine for 4 years now. I drive it or my f-350. I must say I like driving the 350, but it's too costly to run a 1 ton truck even though I can get 20mpg, oil changes are more, brakes are more, blowing smoke costs money.
I really like the older trucks too. A 89-92 Ranger has been on my list since I sold it. Pretty much anything pre-97 Ford is on my list.

I'm bored with mine because it's a base model 2WD with a 4 cylinder. There is only so much I can get out of it. I wouldn't get another Ranger though. This is my one and only. I'll figure out something to do with it.
haha so is mine and it sucks but yet i cant stop finding stuff to do to it
^^^^ Same dude hahaha
I literally am like "ok quit spending on this truck that gains no value and is still a POS", then I find a good deal on something or see something "I NEED" and buy it lol.
I'm getting a Camry. Can't mod that lol.

I'm definitely not spoiled. I work hard for my money. I don't get a dime from anyone except my employer after long and hard worked hours. Both my trucks were bought by me, and only me. And if I were to purchase another vehicle, it would be the same case.
