Bought my first ranger!

Well, I found a good deal and bought it! Well.. will sign final papers and pick it up tomorrow.

I was going to keep looking and looking til I found just the right truck. Even went and saw about 5 more today. Even drove a extra clean 03 that had a good price on it.
But the dealership I first went to on Sat called me back three times today. Seems they are hungry for some business. Finally they made me an offer that was just plain sweet so I took it.

Picking this 2006 FX4 w/4.10s & posi for a little over $21k Got them to throw in a bed liner for free too.

LOL.. I gotta get it in the driveway first guys! But I'll get some pics posted asap.

There are a couple things I'd like to start with. I'd like a small push bar w/some lights. I sorta like the wagg version. Are there any others that are similar in size?

Also, I'll have the windows tinted before too long. Oh and have a flex-a-lite e-fan that's been sitting around since my last project car. I'll put that on as well.

As far as features go.. I had already decided on a 4.0L 4x4 ext cab. But after driving a manual (which I always prefer) I actually decided to go with a automatic. It's going to be a daily driver for the most part and the slush box I found to be a much smoother ride. I'm not crazy about the 4.10s.. would rather have had 3.73s w/a posi. But that's ok. I'm a gear head at heart.

Is your user name Welsh? How about a phonetic translation lol?

I only ask because I was in Wales this summer and enjoyed it thoroughly. Probalby it's not, but that's the kind of words you see over there. I learned to pronounce some stuff like "Llandudno" which renders more or less as "hclahn-deed-no" -- but the really hard ones I'll leave to others.

Anyway, roundabout post -- but welcome!

Back in the day I tried many different ways of expressing my personality.
"WOT" "wide open throttle" and just about any variance I could think of was already taken on most automotive forums I kept visiting.

So I just spelt it weird and have'nt had any problems since.

wyd = wide
opn = open
thrtl = throttle

Shoot.. it's even my yahoo address. wydopnthrtl@yahoo

Nice deal. I just bought my first Ranger about 6 weeks ago. I like it, but am now considering it as a test bed. At some point (soon, right?) I plan to snag a 4.0 XLT Supercab with 4x4 as long as it can be switched off easily.

I've got some inside connections at Ford and was trying pretty hard to get a short bed 2wd 4.0L. was going to make a mini version of my lightning.. But there is just no way to get one like that from the factory.

I did'nt really want to spend this much.. but it's an awfully nice truck with all the equipement I *know* I'll always wish I had ordered.

Thanks Brian.

Now *you* and *I* know what I'm tempted to do. I got all the parts sitting here and it would'nt cost me a penny.

Help.. Rich

DO IT!!!!

hehe... in all honesty though, you'd probably be best off leaving the truck for your reliable work vehicle... the 5r55e tranny on that thing is the first thing that'll go from the extra power.

arent you going to eventually put the kit back on the lightning?

OK I picked it up tonight. Took some quick pics at the dealership.

Brian, Yes the kit is to be for my lightning. But I have the motor completely tore apart building it up for some serious power. Actually I have the kit mounted on the caddy right now... That's how I ran the 13.95.

Yeah the tires to look small. But this time of year is murder on me for cash. Besides I'm putting most all my extra money into the lightning (800hp) or into completing a vehicle design degree at CMU.

I'm pretty sure mods on this will be limited to small stuff for now. Tint, e-fan (which I already have), and maybe a small push bar of somesort.

**IF** I were to buy new tires right now with these 255-70-16s only having 100 miles on them; How much could I get for them to offset the cost?
