Icon5 Brake Adjustment

How do you adjust the brakes on a 1990 model ranger? The front driver side when hard braking locks during but not the passenger side. Today I replaced the outer wheel bearings and front brake pads cause they wear worn but I saw no way of adjusting the brakes.

you cant adjust disc brakes you might have to get some brake lub and lub up the caliper so it expands farther,

Thats what I was afriad of......When I was replacing the wheel bearings I could not get the old races out. They did not seem worn in anyway so i just left them in there. Other times it just took tapping them with a hammer and screw driver to get them out but I hit these hard and they still wont break free. The new bearing might wear prematurely but they are working for now.

Sounds to me like you have a bad caliper.

if its not the caliper, which it prob is, you could have a bad valve in the master cyclinder.
try the caliper tho first.
if you take the old caliper off you can use air to press the pistion out. take the dust boot off and see if its all froze up. try lubin the pistion or rebuilding the whole caliper.
just buy a new one, thats easier

The new house Im moving in to at the end of the month has a junk yard 2 miles down the road. Whats a good price to pay for a used caliper at the JY? I dont want to get screwed over.

I would get one off eBay. You never know if the used one from a junk yard is good or not till you try it. Things like brake parts, I always buy new.
