Broke my first CV shaft!!

Ah yes...now I feel complete! Went out wheelin today with a younger kid{20} to teach him some things about wheelin in a lifted XJ he just bought..And it was funny how the old Ranger was crawlin all over the place and the XJ couldnt follow me to save its life.

Last weekend I tried to drop into a deep dry creek bed about 12 feet below ground level and climb out the other side and got hung up on my frame getting out.Well the XJ tried and failed many times and I wasnt about to give up so easy so I tried again today with just a little better running start.Well I made it out but when the front wheels came back to earth I snapped the drivers front axle.

I was wondering when it was gonna happen so I am glad its over now.At least now I know how much abuse they can take.

Thanks goodness I had my AVM's! It broke right out at the hub,it was hanging up when I would steer so I had to cut the boot to pull it out so I could safely drive home.Honestly I thought it would be worst than this.Buddy is hittin the JY for me today to see if he can find one for me to replace it with.I should be good to go by Sunday.

No locker yet.

I found out today that when the shaft broke it also broke my AVM hub.It broke the plastic piece that holds the big splined gear which for some reason would not come out.I had to hammer the broken shaft through and destroy the shaft retaining clip. Also seen the needle bearings in the knuckle hub were ground to dust.

So thats 71.00 for the shaft, another set of AVM's for 117.00 and another hub essembly for 175.00......wow,nice day.

I have been getting mine through the Jeepers Den in FL. Great guys to deal with. I thought Exploders were live axles but I am not sure.
