According to this, I can get a 4x4 XLT reg. cab 4.0L with 5 speed manual and a 6' bed for $21,845 after rebate, and thats with alot of optional equipment, like privacy glass, power windows/locks/keyless, tilt/cruise, "full size" spare, and CD6/MP3.

They always have. This is nothing new in my book. Car companies set the prices high and then work lower w/ rebates and incentives. This way they can charge more for popular models and less for unpopular ones w/o effecting the overall pricing structure. The '04 F150 comes to mind. They were really popular and there weren't a lot of incentives at first. Meanwhile you could wheel and deal bigtime on an '04 Ranger. It's all about demand man..

Go talk to a Mazda dealer about a new Tribute, MPV or B-siereis.. now talk to him about a new Mazda 3 hatchback.. Betcha get a much bigger 'discount' on the first group than you do on the 3.

FWIW, camera companies do the same thing. I got something like $500 in rebates on my Canon dSLR because I bought a DRebel, which was about to be eclipsed by a newer model.

I just went to Freedom Ford to order headlight retainers for my Taurus. I saw an 06 Sport (EDGE) with the stuff I wanted, 4-door S/C, 4x2, auto, 16"s and an SOHC. Only it's white. However $24,535 just bent me over lol!

I had the fleet guys check at one of my dealerships today, you still cannot order a 4.0 in a reg. cab, unless it has the 7' box. I had briefly considered trading up, but I don't want a supercab, and I don't want another 3.0, and I don't want a 7' bed.

Same here! Those prices are so un-reasonable.

EDIT: So the Edge labeled Ranger has been discontinued?

Correct, its the "Sport" once again. Same basic content as the Edge, but new decal.

Sweet, so that means that "Edge's" were produced from '01-'05, meaning every Edge owner now has a limited edition (in the slightest meaning of the word) vehicle. Tiiiiiiiight.

their pricing the ranger out of alot of peoples ball park. think about it..... what did u pay for yours, now whats the new truck worth? I actually wouldnt mind picking up a brand new 2005 fx4 lvl2, but only it were brand new and bright red... hey we all have our requirements, but thatll never ever happen so ill stick with mine, and ford can keep their crappy plastic front bumper

You guys are mistakenly assuming that they'll actually be selling them for MSRP. I guarantee within 6 months those factory rebates will be closer to $5000.
