they are high due to the asshats who can't drive. LEO's or whoever patrol out there make sure the ice is thick enough to support a vehicles' weight.

No ****. Its like arguing with a 2 year old.

Trucks are made to be trucks. A little water and mud won't hurt them.

The true fact is the ranger isnt anything amazing. Out of any truck you can buy new today the ranger is the top pick for me too do anything too. What I mean by that is off roading these truck have good 4x4 IMO. Also there cheap as crap like common. I got my bran new for under 20k yeah im going too abuse it. New real trucks are 40-70k up here and I would have a hard time abuseing that.

I got this truck bran new when i was 19 paid it off in 8 months. With that kind of affordability why shouldnt we abuse them?

Well mine i don't necessarily abuse, i more baby it more than anything.
But the thing between these new and old trucks, it the quality pretty much.

Like my 88, most of it is metal, almost everything is, only plastic and rubber is like the hoses and stuff.
And a new truck i looked at, i couldn't believe how much plastic they use nowadays.
That's why i have my truck in the first place, i mean plastic is gonna break way before metal and Steele.
Even bolts are plastic somewhat, mine are all metal, the only thing i don't like is that they are those damn torque bolts, tough to get off.

ABUSE may not have been the right word but I have alot less issues haveing fun with my ranger than I would with a 2011 superduty or duramax.

Yeah i wouldn't do anything to a 2010-11 truck.
But mine is 22 years old, and really it don't have a whole lot of life left, so why not have fun with her while i can right

A little water or mud, sure, but we're talking about 5 INCHES!!

dj wayne - With all due respect, you gotta relax a little....and by "a little" I mean "alot". The sky isn't falling and no puppies or kittens were hurt or killed because of this thread. If you think 5" of water is going to stop the earth from turning, what the heck happens when 15" of snow falls? Dare I get out of bed?

BTW; insurance is the biggest legal scam going.

People seriously 5" of water, that's nothing.
from the ground to the middle of my tire is about 5", the ditch was like 6 feet deep, and my truck is fine.

5" of water won't hurt anything, but it will blind you from seeing what's really going on underneath, which could be a large drop off, and you won't see it coming. That's my point.

Mines sees alot of mud and high water during deer season. I hunt the river bottoms so if the town gets 1in there will be 5in down there due to water run-off. Last year I had water on the road come up to the top of my front bumper, with my rig being double lifted thats high. Just took it real slow in 4 low and did my best to keep the air filter from sucking water.

I dont go mudding or offroading anymore I just go through what I have to to get to the stand. Cause Im not putting on waders and carrying all my crap 500 yard through 3ft or more of water to get to the deer stand.
