Buying Tips and Info needed, please!
I am looking at getting a 02 - 03 Super Cab with 4X4 (preferably the EDGE).
I plan on beefing it up and ACTUALLY taking it off road. Can you guys help me out by telling me what options I should look for, and what options come on each of the Ranger Models. Zabeard was telling me that the Level II is the best one. I want the Edge because I want the color matched bumper, I want it fully loaded (power everything, cruise, captain chairs; not the bench seat), and I want a 5 speed in it if i can swing it. Can anyone hint to me the different axles and other drive train components I should be looking for here. Also, any hints on areas that I should Fine tooth the truck for rust or anything out of the ordinary. I appreciate it guys, and gals. Thanks!

look for limited slip... my 4x4 xlt is an open diff and it drives me nuts. i really wish i had the stock 4.10's instead of 3.73's so id look for that too. 4.0L.... duh. i like the painted bumpers too so i agree with that.... thats all i anna say right now.. im in class, lol
if you are looking for an 2002 and a 5 speed try too find a 2002 FX4 it wont have the colormatched bumper but the manuals came with a manual transfer case, and you get the torsen LS 31 spline axel, full skids and bilsten shocks. and if you really want just sand and paint the flares and bumper.
Thank You guys... is there any other Vitals I should be looking for. I have a print out of the axle codes and plan on double checking the axle code on door jam and the TAG on the Axle itself. I am just making sure I get a strong 4x4, not one that needs "beefing up" so to speak!
