carnage for the day...

well, so far my day has been.....fun...

I got up a 6:30, so I could try to be out of the house around 7-ish, since I drive my g/f to school (we got to the same college about 30-40 km' away) and she has a class @ 8...nevermind I've only got one class from 12:00-2:00, it just gives me more time to come on here

so, I wake up late (about 6:45), go out of the front door at about 7:10, see my dad has pulled my tuck in and made his truck first in line start my truck to warm it up, pull his truck out, get in my truck. It about 7:20 now.

My street is fairly narrow, and some moron, like always, parked right across from our driveway...so, I have to come out on an angle...and there is like 12-15" of snow/slush right at the edge of our driveway, and with no 4x4, that makes getting out even more fun. not to mention, there is hedges along the right side of the right way, and on the left side, there is a telephone pole like 4" from the edge of the driveway...I turn the wheels to the right, trying to swing out while powering through the slush...I'm sure you can see where this is going....

I look back, see no cars, and attempt to back out....only to hit the snow/slush and stop...so I give it some gas, and drive back in...after trying this for about 5 minutes, I'm starting to get mad because I've still got to pick the g/f and drive to school...so I put it in reverse, look over my right shoulder, drop the hammer, and WHAM!!!!!

i clipped the telephone pole at the very front of the driver's side front fender...damn near almost ripped my grille guard off (bend the driver's side light guard fairly good), ripped off part of the grille that covers the headlight almost over to the ford symbol, dented the fender, scraped some paint (it left a nice yellow mark on the pole, so everyone will know it was me....)

but, atleast it didn't break my side marker light, or worse, my week-old diamond cut housing.....THAT would have pissed me off....

moral of the story? I know why my dad almost ALWAYS backs his truck in now...

other people have hit the pole before, one night a cab driver trying to turn around ripped off his front bumper....it's just the first (and hopefully only) time I've hit it...

sorry about the lenght, just trying to vent some steam...

but they do say bad things come in 3's, and this is the 3rd bad thing that happened in as many days, so I'd better get some good luck now!!!

I don't know about three's -- but one like that is enough. Sorry that happened to you and hope you get her all fixed up soon. At least there was no "critical" damage.
