Check out this whimpy stuck

Today my brother and I decided that since he had no work and I was on spring break we would do a day trip to the Allegheny National Forest to find some geocaches. Well at home there is no snow but apparently that was not the case at the Allegheny's.

The only geocache we found before getting stuck was actually in a cave.

After successfully going down one forest road/snowmobile trail in 4x4 we ended up getting pretty stuck on the way to another geocache. It doesn't look like much in the picture but the snow was packed up against the transfer case and rear differential.

In the end we tried digging out, using logs that we cut to prop under the wheels, and even took about 15 pounds out of the tires. Which are still the Wrangler R/T's Nothing worked so we had to do the unthinkable and call AAA lol. We tried getting the truck unstuck for 3 hours before calling though. We were determined but in the end the stock ranger was defeated by the Alleghenies. As soon as I get some money it's time for new tires and a body lift.

Oh and we still had a great time!

Searching for geos is so fun. Everytime I go to a different off-roading area I search for them.

Nice stuck though.

Just jack up the truck and throw a bunch of crap under the wheels. Then put a bunch of snow in the bed. You need to clear out a path a few feet in front and behind each tire. Rocker her out using the skinny pedal. This work for me most of the time. Even when I smashed into a snowbank and my truck was sitting on the frame and snow half way up the doors, this method worked. I did have two full size shuvels plus a snow shovel. I know easier said than done but it works. EDIT: Better tires are a big plus+, those slicks you're running as you found out will get you stuck in 5" of snow.

They are items that are hidden throughout the country. You use a GPS unit to locate them. I think this is what it is. I know I'm close.

See that is why i wouldn't take my truck snowbogging. The tires on my truck are not that good. Anyways i have been there before and it sucks.

Lol yeah geocaching is a worldwide game of hide an go seek pretty much. Anyone can place and find a geocache as long as you have a gps. They are everywhere but I only do the ones that are in the woods mostly when I'm camping. 99% of the time the geocache will take you to some sweet area whether it's a cave like this last one or some scenic view that only the locals know about ect.. I was considering jacking my truck up but I never did it. Now that I think about it more that might have worked.

I'm glad I joined R-F forums.. If I didn't, who knows how long it would have been till I came across this geocaching game. I think it's brilliant! I also can't wait to play.. Finally, fun with a GPS!
