By the way the first mod i have in line is installing a tachometer, can anyone give me some insight into how to do this?

I have installed a tachometer on my mustang so i know how to do it but am not sure where to get a good tach signal on these cars...

Just put in a whole cluster from a ranger with a tach, or if you want the white face gauges an explorer sport/sport trac cluster- easy swap.

welcome. They are capable of 27 and with the single cab maybe even 30 ... my roomates company car is an 06 ranger 4cyl 5spd single cab and he pulls 25 with plenty of around town driving and use of ac.

i also just got one of these, mines a 99 mazda b2500 xcab 4cyl 5spd with 90k ... havent driven it enough to check the gas miles yet, cause the prev owner never set the trip odo.

u can easily swap a guage cluster from an explorer or ranger. i did it with my '96. all u have to do is obtain one from a donor and plug it in. no wirring necc.

95-03 ranger/explorer will work.

Welcome to the site. The guage cluster is easy. I bought a cluster from a member of this forum. It works great. Good luck on getting 25 MPG. It should get close to that. I get about 23MPG. CYA around.
