well my clutch finally died this morning... i was just driving along and i thought it felt a little strange and then it went straight to the floor with no resistance... im guessing the master or slave cylender but i really have no idea... anyone have any idea how much this is gonna cost to fix?

 

you could always opt for a full racing clutch. there is one company that makes offroad clutches, street racing clutches, and drag clutches and the entire assemblies that go with them but i forget what it was but it was on HP tv before. sounded pretty nice but im guessin you dont want to spend a lot of money.

 

From case history its probably the slave cylinder. If it is the slave cylinder your looking at replaceing the slave cylinder, clutch assembly, and it would be a good idea to resurface the flywheel. Factory clutch is produced by LuK (www.lukclutch.com). I've heard of people being quoted around $1100 for everything.

 

1100 are you serious! im really pissed this is broken so soon... i went over 100,000 miles on my 92 on the same clutch and this one has only 45,000

 

It's still not on warranty i guess.....My sister screwed up her clutch (and a whole lot more) in her 03 wrangler and it ran for around 3K....BUT we had the extended warranty so we only have to pay like 300.

 

It's not hard to do yourself. Clutch kit is around $250 for the factory style, I think, more for an aftermarket (upwards of $450). Not sure about a slave cylinder. Most of the cost is in labor.

Could you start the truck, but just not put it into gear? If so that happened to me about a month ago. It was my slave cylinder. It cost me $400 to replace (mainly labor). It is because the slave cylinder (and damn you Ford for this) is inside the bellhousing which is inside of the transmission itself. It's rediculous. The part costs $80. If it is the master cylinder you are actually in luck! It is right on the firewall near the clutch fluid and only takes about an hour or so to replace. But chances are it is your slave cylinder.

 

yep thats what mine is doing... it broke while i was driving though but luckly i was able to make it home by shifting without the clutch and not getting stopped by any red lights... 400 huh thats not too bad cause right now im expecting around 600... ill call aamco later and get a estamate
