Cold Morning Start No Oil Pressure
Cold Morning Start No Oil Pressure
2001 supercab ranger 4.0 XLT 4x4 with 5w-30 Valvoline max life semi-synthetic oil.
When I start it up in the morning it will show no pressure on the idiot gauge for approximately 2 minutes with a “check gauge” light. I hear no bangs, pinging or knocking. Sounds normal.
Mornings are high 20’s/low 30’s where I live with a high of mid 50’s. Where I work it’s about 70 during the day.
I recently purchased it a couple weeks ago and changed the oil a couple days ago. I noticed this issue the next morning after the oil change (or might of not noticed or it may have got colder?). Not sure what oil was in the truck before.
Anyone have this happen before? Pressure switch or do I need a different oil weight?

Probably just the oil switch. Probably the original. Usual failure is when they start leaking but they can fail in other ways. Not too costly to replace. If you have something weak on your auto, when it gets colder out is when you find out. :)
