corroded rims

I was wondering if any of you know if Ford fixed the problem with their aluminum stock rims corroding from the lead weights being put on for balancing. I own a set that were from 2002 and where the weights were from the factory they are corroded badley. I use these as my winter rims. The rims I am worried about are my 2009 ones. They are the same rims but the weights look like they are painted or coated in something. I was gonna sell them before they got nasty until I noticed the coating and thought I'd ask the question here about ford fixing the problem. I really like them and don't want to sell them if not needed.

They're supposed to use specially coated (more expensive) weights on aluminum wheels. Find somewhere else to get your tires balanced, your guy is cheap...

my Rims on my 09 are coated....the rims I got from a guy who owned an 02 were not coated weights, from the factory, and they corroded horribly.

If you want to prevent it from happening on your 09 rims just go and have them put the weights on the backside of the wheels.
