Best programer or chip?

Im looking into getting a programer or a chip for my truck its V6 3.0. What is the difference between a programer and chip? I have heard people on here talking about the bama tuner alot. Anyone with some knowledge on this topic help me out!

Yea I just read some previous posts and that is what they all say so I am probably going to get the excaliber one without the whole chord thing.

Programers (like superchips and bama) you plug into your car's OBD-II port and remove it when the changes are done. Chips (like Jet chip) plug in on the back of the trucks computer and stays their. I have a Jet chip because superchip does not make one for my year and I did not know about Bama then. There are other programers out their but Jet, Bama, and superchip are the only ones I know that work Rangers. What year is your ranger?
