Diff troubles

Diff troubles

so i have a 2007 4x2 ranger with 6000 miles on it and i took 3 teeth off a spider gear is this a common problem or did i get the fluke.

my guess is that it was a manufacturers defect.

can i ask how you know you took those teeth off? did you pull the diff cover?

doesn't matter, take it back to the dealership and have them replaced.....it is under waranty...

the dealer did fix it but i got to look at it when it was on the lift. i just want to know if i should expect this again.

There is NOOOO way a new truck could do that because of the owners usage. That is unless you've been doing 5000rpm clutch dumps or something. And even then I'd think youd break a driveshaft or u-joint before lunching the diff.

Was it making any noise before it let loose? What where the circumstances when it let go?

no there was no noise, i just backed out of the driveway put it in first and slowly let out the clutch then boom. i have never driven it hard and it has stock tires so i dont know what is up with it.
