Difference between Hella 500 and 500FF?

I just picked up 2 Hella 500's and 2 500FF's from someone I know, I have 2 1000FF's on it now but like the look of 4 lights better then 2 and the old 1000FF's on there now are looking old.

So my question is whats the difference between the two? Will one throw light rather and the other throw it wider or something?

Heres the 500FF's

And the plain 500's

the original 500's are made in Germany.
the new 500FF are made in Taiwan.
(just some useless info)

Thanks, the 1000FF's didn't look bad with the covers but without they look stupid.

I didn't wire all four yet, I have to fix the old wiring first. It's wired really weird and looks like trouble how it is now, I have to cut out all the wires and rewire it the right way now.

I remember how descent the wiring was then and had help from a former member (slayenem) here install the lights as he was into wiring/splicin. I found that the 1000's were a cheaper the the 500's I originally wanted. We also did the blinker mod in case you didn't notice :)

The FF's are "free form" reflectors. They are designed by computer software to give the best projection of the light as determined by the designers at Hella.

The non FF's are just a regular parabolic lense.

Yeah, that wiring was a hack. I just cut it all out then threw it away and redid it, except for the stuff behind the dash because it's too hot to do that right now. And I'm undoing the blinker mod the next time I take out the headlights.

Didn't Elon rewire the thing once?

And Whats wrong with the blinker mod, it's one of R-F's imfamous mods lol. Actually they're numerous "free mods" I can only remember.

-Blinker
-Front Bumper
-Foglight (they stay on when you use high beams)
-MAF sensor (should flow 40% more air then originally; Griggs saved me tons when I wanted a Granatelli MAF; hacked bottom piece w/o touching the sensor)
-Airbox silencer removal

Nope, all your stuff. That guy was an idiot anyway.

IMO the blinker mod is gay when the lights are on at night, I don't like how it alternates at all and I wont keep my blinker on in a turning lane because how stupid I think it looks when the lights are on. Plus the wiring is a ball of electrical tape.

I noticed the Foglight thing, didn't look at the wiring for that yet.

The MAF thing isn't too great looking either, I need to smooth that all out.

The foglight mod doesn't require wiring. I took out the fuse and bend one of the coppers (pin). You can get a new fuse in case your not interested in that either. One of John Griggs' originals:

I couldn't find anything to sand the MAF down so I left it. I noticed a slight difference with the stock airbox but better with the Volant intake at higher RPM's hehe

I have the 500 installed right now, and 2 700FF sitting int he garage. Gonna wire all 4 up to the new bumper. Question: do you think the 700FF should go in the middle and the regualr 500s should go on the sides? or vise versa?

I would put the FF in center and 500 on outside like you said. By the way I love the 4 light setup you showed in your picture. Looks good. Any chance when you get it wired you can throw up a pic of the light output at night. This is what I have been considering for months.
