Hella 500 vs 500FF
So I'm gonna replace the crappy Autozone driving lights I have now with some better ones. I'm pretty much decided on the Hella 500 for the price and everyone seems to like them.
My question. Is there a big diff between the 500 and the 500FF, the FF have a clearer lens, but I'm really interested in the overall range. I want to get the most light for the money and want to make sure I get the better one.
Does anyone have experience with the FF? What kind of range are you getting out of your 500's?

"FF" stands for Free Form. The main visual difference is that the regular 500's use a fluted lens to create the beam pattern whereas the 500FF's use a clear lens with a fluted reflector. However, for driving lights, there is not much of difference since driving lights don't have much of a defined beam pattern anyway. According to Hella, however, the FF design allows for 20% more light output.

So since they are the same price I might as well go with the 500FF.
Does anyone have an estimate on how far they reach. I know it will be better than mine. If they outshine my headlights on bright, then that would be awesome

I had them. Aimed correctly it was about 150feet down the road. But you ended up blinding the **** out of everyone. Aimed to be nice and about 75 feet of the road was bright as the freaking day.
Run the Silver Star H3 bulb in them. It has the filament at a different spot and I noticed a much wider beam with those, not to mention brighter.
