Distance on a tank?
Thought I would add an update. My trip to Ohio a couple of months ago was easier on gas than my trip to Chicago. Running 55-60 on tires that were a little over inflating due to a 20 degree ambient temperature raise (think a kidney got jarred loose....hehe) is alot easier on the gas wallet than running 70-90mph on 32psi tires. :)
I got 22mpg running 65-70 and 19.5mpg when I ran 75-80 and found the limiter several times.....

I get about 24mpg on my stock 4.0L V6...nearly all open road no stop driving and then freeway kinda helps that though I suppose. I'm at 340 miles right now on my latest fillup. Anyone know what the fuel tank size is on my 98 is? I think it's something like 16, but I'm not sure...

I get 310 on a good day.......I have the 65L tank (17gal) though. Average is around 292 ish.
I actually just figured out how many miles i got to my last tank of gas becuase my odometer/speedometer are off.....i actually got 381.2 miles to the tank...i filled up my 19.5 gal. tank and it was full at 17.812 gallons so my millage was 21.4 mpg...not bad
why the hell does my truck seem to do so badly with gas... i drove about 10 miles with the gas light on and filled at like 250-260ish (which is really pushing it for me). i've got a 4.0sohc with 4.10's, 4x4 auto, ext. cab, etc... the only thing i would have done to jeapordize my mileage was tires.. and all i have are 265's instead of 245's.. does the one size difference really mean a loss of up to 100 miles per tank????
^I doubt it....cause im runnin 285/75r16's which are alot bigger than the 245/75r16's that came stock....im still runnin 4.10's, 4x4 auto, x-cab, and blah blah blah....and im getting really good gas milage....you might want to check your O2 sensors, change your fuel filter and switch to synthetic or sythetic blended oils....and not lay on the skinny pedal soo much
Im usually filling up at around 225-235 miles, last tank I averaged about 15.4 mpg.
Im curious though, does every ranger have a low fuel light? Ive never seen mine come on if I have one, so ive never tested to see how far I can actually go on a tank.

I pumped 18.116 gal that day.. if that answers your question. (And that is the most I have ever, ever pumped. I normally don't push it that far.)
im at a little over a quarter of a tank with 175 on the odometer. i should be gettin my programmer in the next few days and its because i need to change my oil, bad. im oin to do it when it cools off a little. its like 98 degrees here now at 5 to 8. coolest its been all day.

I dont have a ranger right now, probably soon though, but my current truck (85 Dodge Ram 2wd 318) gets about 300 miles on a 30 gallon tank -3 about gallons left when i fill up, so that means i get about 10mpg........i can get about 13 if i take it easy most of the time. Thats why im getting a ranger 2.3l
