I have a 99 4.0 with a 5r55e trans. Have been working on this thing for almost 6 months. Rebuilt the motor and had an issue fixed with the torque converter not seating. finally have everything back together, and it runs great, but when I tried to drive it, it just didnt shift into reverse, and doesnt go into any gear. I just replaced a broken shift cable and the neutral safety switch, and the shifter goes in to every gear perfectly, but nothing happens. if it is in park, the parking pawl doesnt seem to engage. it seems like its in neutral no matter what gear its in. worried i have to take the transmission back out, but wondering if theres something im just missing here.
