E-Fan Swap

I know there are a lot of threads on this, but I haven't found an answer to my specific question.

I have a 98 2.5 5 speed. I want to convert it to an electric fan.

I grabbed a fan from a Taurus, reading that they moved a lot of air. It's a good 4" smaller than the shroud, and will be tough to mount. I tried sheet metal and it was just too flimsy, and a pain to work with.

If I grabbed the E-fan and shroud from a newer Duratec Ranger, would that swap right into mine? It'd be a hell of a lot easier. From the little I can find, the shrouds look the same.

Yes, you can use the Ranger e-fan found on later models.

With either you need a temp sender to activate the e-fan relay
No, no switch in the cab, that is asking for trouble.

Good look here at another e-fan option but also how to set up a temp sender on the upper rad hose: Volvo Electric Cooling Fan

Cutting and fitting a Taurus fan just seems hokey to me. But, it shouldn't be an issue, I'll just grab the assembly from a pick and pull.

Your best bet is to mount the taurus fan shroud inside of your stock fan shroud, like I did. Very sturdy.

1/4-20 carriage bolts, fender washers, and decorative acorn nuts on the ends to cover sharp edges of the bolts.

That's the thing, all I have is the Taurus fan itself, not the shroud.

If I'm going to get the shroud from Pick and pull, I might as well just get the whole OEM setup from a Ranger.

You could also try strip steel or aluminum.
