Engine blew all oil out
Engine blew all oil out
I have a 99 2wd 3.0 ranger xlt and I was driving today. I parked and went into a store and when I came back. All my oil was on the ground. And the left side of my engine was covered in oil. But below the headgasket? I refilled it with oil and drove it another 10 miles home with no issue. I have an oil catch can that was completely frozen due to it being -30F so I originally thought my crankcase over pressurized. But I’m not sure. Someone metioned it looks like it all blew out your dipstick! At the same time my coolant now smells like fuel. I kick a running rich code about every week. I haven’t been able to do adequate troubleshooting due to it being so cold outside and not having a garage. Any advice would help!
Crank case is open via the Breather tube, on the passenger side of engine, so even with blocked PCV hose any blow-by should be able to escape via the breather, there is no valve on breather is wide open to air cleaner hose
Exhaust smell in coolant system means blown head gasket
Dip stick tube end is not immersed in the oil in the pan, it sits above the oil level so only air can be pushed up and out of the dip stick tube, unless oil was overfilled
Have you checked the color of the oil on the dipstick, "chocolate" color means coolant has mixed in, so also a sign of blown head gasket and that would overfill the oil pan

Consider the pcv valve inop. I have the catch can hooked up to it and it was frozen. Making the entire pcv valve useless.
