What year?

What engine size?

Can the starter motor turn the engine, can you manually turn the engine?
If not then you spun a main bearing and need to pull out the engine

2002 Ford Rangers had 3 engine options, all are different
2.3l DOHC 4cyl
3.0l Vulcan V6
4.0l SOHC V6

Which one?

Never heard of oil pump problems with that engine, 2.3l Duratec(Mazda L) engine

It is a double overhead cam(DOHC) engine and use friction locked timing chain gears so they can slip
I would test compression, it runs 9.7:1 compression ratio so expected is 170psi +

Once that is done and compression is HIGH you can move on to spark or fuel issues, but ALWAYS start with compression since its a black or white issue, and if compression is low you will waste alot of time and maybe money on non-fixes
