Engine light flashing

I have a 2004 Ford ranger 3.0 every time I go up in speed and get to 2500 rpms it will start spitting and sputtering and I can’t go any faster. Already checked the plugs, fuzes, and changed the fuel filter. I have no cats so it shouldn’t be the problem. Anybody has any suggestions on what it should be? Need to know ASAP

Flashing CEL means BACK OFF the throttle, engine damage can occur

Check fuel pressure, should be 55-60psi, then raise RPMs to 2,500 and hold it there and watch pressure, should stay at 55-60psi, if its dropping then replace fuel pump assembly

Check compression if pressure seems OK
