Ranger 3.0 transmission

Ok so I'm replacing the flexplate 8n my 3.0 ranger. Quick question is the supposed to be a thin spacer between the bell housing and the motor like with the 4.0 rangers. And if so how vital is it to have.

Yes, its called a Block Plate and is needed to line up the starter motor with ring gear on flexplate, also as a spacer

Well I think this might be the reason for the flexplate needing to be replaced.
