Engine swap
Welcome to the forum
Depends on the year of the Ranger
Up thru 2003 its a pretty straight forward swap
2004 to 2011 Ranger went to Digital system which adds multiple layers of complications
302 with carb and distributor is the easiest and least expensive
Fuel injected is more expensive and has more wiring to deal with
You also have to swap transmissions, no Ranger trans can bolt to any V8, so that also adds to cost
If you have a 2001 and up Ranger then you have the 4.0l SOHC engine which is 207HP, 302 is only 215HP so not a big power gain
So cost of the swap is to get 8HP......................
If its a 2000 or earlier Ranger then its a 4.0l OHV engine and 160HP, so better swap to get 55HP more
Cost of replacing any engine with the same model engine will ALWAYS be least expensive option
