Flasher Relay? Flashers are dead.. help

Flasher Relay? Flashers are dead.. help
Ok, so my flashers went out Sun and I cant figure out what to do to fix it. I looked all through my manual and cant find a relay for them. Any help is great. Is there a relay on Rangers? Did I fry something? Is it a fuse? Thanks :(

It's a module under the dash, towards the center in the "relay box".
It controls turn signals, and emergency flashers. I take it none of these work? Check fuses 21 (16 amp) and 10 (7.5 amp) in the cab. They feed the flasher module.
Fuse 10 feeds power to the flasher module electronics, and fuse 21 powers the lamps themselves. The lamps in the back are fed by a separate power source by way of the turn signal switch on the steering wheel, so you probably still have brake lights.

Thank you John, it was fuse 21 that was blown. I put another in and it blew it when I turned on the right blinker. Right then I knew it was a short. Got to looking, the wire to my right rear tail was cut. Grafted in some new wire, poped in a new fues and it works. Thanks!

That is the generic electronic module or GEM.
It's sad but there are very few real switches left in vehicles that actually let you control anything. It's all done by modules, you just think it is done by the switch cause that's what you are used to. The switches, and even throttles these days are just suggestion boxes for you to put your suggestions in and later the appropriate module will read your suggestion and decide what it will actually do. What you want and what it does are two totally seperate things.

The GEM does not control the turn signals on that year Ranger. It's a separate flasher module. It's probably not where I said it was though, I was getting the location confused. I've never had to change one, lol.

Actually, the GEM is not part of the turn indicator circuit on your 2002, either. The turn signal/hazard flash is controlled by an Indicator flasher relay in Auxiliary Relay Box 1 to the right of the steering column.

I'll have to check in datalogger again, but I seem to recall that the parameter IDs for the turn signals and hazards were listed under GEM. I could have it confused with a different vehicle.

You can even have a bad bulb with a bent or broken internal support that is intermittently shorting. I've had them before in the past. Though rare, they are confounding. If you find it always blows with just the right or left turn signal, swap bulbs from side to side and see if it moves.
More likely, as FireRanger just stated, you have something that is the result of recent work or damage.

Update I guess... It would only blow when the right signal was turned on and was very sparatic after I fixed the broken wire. Sooo last weekend I took the taillights off and washed out all the cacked on mud and stuff and I noticed that when they hooked up my trailer lights the inline splices were up there, so cleaned them off and its now been 4 days and 200 miles and they are working so lets hope that explained it. Thanks!

thanks for this info im having the same problem started a new thread but im gonna go check 21 and 10 see if my problem is fixed.
Edit: checked those fuses still no go. hrm. this is no bueno I dont see how one bad bulb could be affecting my whole system. possible blinker mod gone wrong? I'll have to check it out this weekend.
