I heard Mazda there were a great amount of Mazda engineers ont the Ranger design team. IDK if its true.

That Ford courier looks neat, never seen one. Kinda reminds me of the Chevy LUV.

Actually, Chevy is GM. Kind of like how Lincoln and Mercury are Ford. GM owns Chevy like they do Pontiac and Cadillac etc...

Ford and Mazda are partners, They swap lots of parts, Look under the hood of a new Mazda 6 and it has a version of the 3.0. Escape=Tribute also.too bad they wont let ford use the rotary motors

go to www.fordvehicles.com and look at the bottom of the screen. Ford owns controlling interest, and/or is partnered with all of these manufacturers...

which means I can own a Volvo and still feel patriotic. Is that Correct? It's so confusing nowadays. It seems like a Toyota can have more US content than a Ford or Chevy. It's all so confusing.

Ford Couriers were rebadged Mazda B-Series trucks. Ford developed the Ranger platform as a Courier replacement so they could better compete with the S-10 (the S-10 was introduced about a year earlier than the Ranger). Essentially, they shrunk an F-150 frame and suspension system to create the Ranger frame and suspension system. They first introduced the Ranger in March 1982 as a 1983 model. After the Ranger was introduced, Mazda continued producing the B-Series on its existing platform, which shares nothing at all with any Ranger or post-1994 B-Series. In 1987 Ford contracted Mazda to design and build the M5OD manual transmission. In 1994 Mazda began selling rebadged Rangers under the B-Series name to replace the aging Mazda-designed B-Series platform. In 2001 Ford and Mazda started selling Rangers and B-Series trucks with the 2.3 Duratec, which was designed under a joint-venture project between Ford and Mazda. The Ranger is by far mostly a Ford product though. Current Rangers are still loosely based on the original Ranger platform introduced 23 years ago (though massive changes have been made over the years). The only all-Mazda part are the manual transmissions, and Ford has never built any manual transmission that has gone in the Ranger (earlier models used Mitsubishi and Toyo Koygo transmissions).
