Ford Ranger reliability - better stats

I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to track cars and trucks closely as they age.

So far 179 Ranger owners have signed up to participate. A good start, but not enough to include any model year in the survey, though some are close. Some owners have asked me to do more to get the Ranger included, I'm going to make this a priority.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Ranger, for free. I'll share results in this thread after each update.

For the details, and to sign up to help out:

Yeah, that wouldn't work.

I should also specify that we only cover back to the 1995 model year.

Those who have signed up already, thanks, I certainly appreciate it.

Need 25 to start. The closest model years:

1999: 19

2003: 17

2002: 15

2000: 15

Now 203 owners signed up, plus another 31 for the Mazda B-Series.

The 2003 has been added to the survey, the 2002 is just two trucks away, and the 1999 is only four trucks short.

I'd be happy to--just need a request from an admin or mod.

Half years designate a heavily revised or redesigned model that shares a model year with a previous version. Examples: 2006.5 VW Rabbit & GTI, 2004.5 Volvo S40.

hahah thats me.. signed up my GTI and my Ranger..

My life would be much simpler if VW, Kia, and Volvo could just do what virtually everyone else does and start the new model year early when they fully redesign a car...

I need to tweak the various messages.

I activate vehicles for the main survey around the beginning of each month. Next time will probably be March 31st.

There are some other, entirely optional surveys you can participate in right away. To see buttons for these in "My Garage," specify your bodystyle and powertrain.

I'll be rolling out a major upgrade to the Repair History Survey tomorrow. Those who want to will be able to keep track of all of their car-related costs.

Thanks. The email for the survey is on a monthly cycle. I activate newly enrolled vehicles around the beginning of each month.

To provide an additional benefit, I recently enhanced the related repair history survey so that it can (optionally) be used as a personal car maintenance record for cars 2000 MY and newer.

As always, more participants would be helpful. Updated Car Reliability Survey results in May.

Thank you, this works. The main reason for that field is some people have two vehicles with the same model and model year, and sometimes even the same color.

I'd like to start providing reliability information on the Ranger in November, but need more participants to help make this happen.
