Fuel pump interchangeability

I have used the search function and to no avail. Would a 4 cylinders fuel pump work on a 6 cylinder and vice versa? I believe mine has gone gone out or my gas line froze recently (was like -4 last night in chicago) but im leaning more towards a fuel pump since i left over half a tank of gas in my truck.

In tank fuel pump assemblies are not specific to the engine, just the tank dimensions and the year of the vehicle.

So 4cyl, V6 or V8 would use the same in tank fuel pump if they have the same model fuel tank.

If you live in an area that expects temps below 32degF then the fuel would have methanol(anti-freeze) added during manufacturing(winter fuel), so fuel line freezing is unlikely.
But could still happen if there is more water in the fuel than the methanol can absorb(bond with to prevent if from freezing).

Ford has the computer turn on the fuel pump for 2 seconds when key is turned on, listen for this, turn key on and off several times and listen, fuel pump is pretty loud so no mistaking if it is working or not.
