fx4 level 2....no more?

im sort of confused, and am having a hard time finding anythig on the internet.
anyways i was at my local dealer tonight and asked if there were any level II 's on the lot, and what the different between the regular FX4 and the level II was, and he said the level II has been discontinued, and is now just the 4X4sport
whats the deal?

they combined fx4's into the fx4 model, pretty much the same thing minus the shifter, but everything that has been taken off them you can custom order (i think). 08 or 07 they stopped doing the FX4 Level 2 trim, i have an 08 FX4.

Level !! was disco'ed in 07, that was the last year you could get the bilstein shocks, torsen LS, alcoa's, and bfg tires. The levle II package wasn't just a trim lelve it w as decent off road package. it idn't have a manual transfer case since 2003, which was the first year of the level II name.

Never get the offroad packages anyway. By the time you're don modding you will have removed all the stock componets you just spent all that money on in the first place.

That's what I thought as well. When I was looking for a truck I wanted a level II but decided that a regular FX4 with new shocks and level II rear end would give me the same thing basically. Plus this way I will have a regular cab level II.. boo yah!

For some people it is. LVL II gave a good deal more than a normal off road package does to. Most of them are 3 grand for cheap skidplates and two stickers. But in my opinion the shocks, tires/wheels, skidplates. Would have been gone within a few months of buying the truck cuz I would have had 4&3 on it sitting on 35's or 36's. That's why I say I'd prolly never buy any type of off road package.

Hmm, yeah I don't think so. I bought my 03 L2 for $500 more than the standard FX4 would have been and about $1400 more than an XLT 4x4 with the same interior options.

The FX4 off road has a limited slip, not a torsion. The level II also has a 31 spline axle instead of 28. I have an FX4 off road and just bought a rolled level II to swap out the rear end.
Is that a stepside FX4? they made those?

The Flareside box was available as an option on the FX4 Off Road in 2003~04 only. All FX4 Level II's are Styleside.

Ok gents I had to chime in here.

I was under the assumption that my 02 FX4 had a Torsion rear. I know it has the Bilstein shocks. It also has the manual Tcase.

Yes it's a style side. No, it's not a level II.

I'm perfectly happy with my truck and I will never get rid of it. Tires fell off? HA! I'll put em back on until they fall off again!

The 02 FX4 is the equivalent of the later FX4 Level II.

How good is a 4.10 Torsen L/S 31-spline compared to a standard 4.10 L/S 28-spline? Is it better pickup off the line?

I think the 31 spline is 20-25 percent stronger? Something like that anyways. The Torsen L/S is kinda debatable. When it works, it works good, but they are prone to blowing up.
