Gas gauge

Hello all! I got a 2005 3.0 and the gas gauge suddenly stopped. Now i did replace the fuel pump without an oem and wondered if its the arm. Im also looking at the cluster because of some of the LEDs are dim on the rpm gauge. Hooked up the obd scanner and found this code P0463. Any help greatly appreciated!

P0463 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit High Input

This means its not a gauge issue, as the computer is also getting a faulty signal from the sender in the gas tank
Could be the connector at the top of the tank or the sender itself inside the tank
Once you have access to the top of the tank you can use an OHM Meter to see if its a sender issue
Set OHM met to lowest setting, usually 200 ohms
1989 and up Rangers(Fords) use senders with these ohm settings
16 ohms EMPTY
158 ohms FULL

Yellow wire is the sender wire that goes to gauge, hook OHM meter up to Yellow/white wire's terminal on the tank, ground the other OHM meter wire to the frame
Should see OHM reading between 16 and 158, depending on tanks fuel level
Rock the Ranger, so gas in tank will slosh around making float in tank go up and down and you should see OHM Levels change accordingly
If OHM reading is higher than 158, or you can't read OHMs at all then sender is disconnected in the tank

If the OHMs are OK then the yellow/white wire was disconnected or sender's ground was disconnected, the black/white wire

Hey, thanks again. Took a look at it and the float arm was out of the handle.
