Well im decided on a borla si-do exhaust system. I now need to know what kind of borla muffler i should get for my 4.0. Also i am thinking 2.5 in and 2.25 out as far as piping goes. They have-

Turbo Muffler
Turno XL muffler
Pro XS Muffler

Could someone Please tell me what the difference is in these mufflers? I think that FoMoCoEdge had the regular turbo muffler, sounded good and had good performance...... But im not sure. NOW....Where should i purchase the muffler at the lowest price? No muffler shops around here carry Borla.....lol

EDIT*** I mentioned to my dad that i was going to order my muffler and tips soon.....He absoultely flipped out, Why? I have no idea. He thinks there is nothing wrong with the stock exhaust right now. He says have a muffler shop put a new pipe (one) from the stock muffler......hahaha YEAH RIGHT! i told him why not just get a new exhaust if i was going to do that? Then i told him about the HP gains, and sound. He said he put headers and duals on a old ranger f-250 with a big v8, and said he got no power....blah blah....Ehh it PISSED ME OFF, how am i going to persudae him???? HELP !!!

When I was searching for exhaust before the only place I found Borla mufflers was off of ebay. For about 90 bucks each. Check there.

I had the Turbo XL , custom made the y-pipe coming out.

Turbo series is for 4 bangers and small sixes.

Turbo XL is recommended for bigger engines. v8's, i talked to a borla tech person or whatever the hell thier called. and they said i would be fine with the mods i had.

Pro XS is more for a big motor track car. More of a high flow for v8's.

sorry bout the off topicness. are their turbo series mufflers turbo mufflers or is that just like turbo meaning fast?

a turbo muffler being a muffler that is supposed to accelerate the exhaust flow by use of diapraghms(sp) and such.

 

a turbo muffler is simply a muffler packed with steel wool, they are generally the cheapest out there, sans the glasspack.

 

can't answer the specific topic question, but I can say that the stainless Borla cat-back exhaust in my 350Z sounds amazing. Slight HP gains but the sound is what makes it killer.

Borla makes some damn good stuff.

Youre making it sound like borla is junk...lol Actually borla is the most expensive muffler i've considered for my truck so far. From what i hear its good performance, and good sound that you can HEAR. I cant wait to get it done!!!

And leo, since im getting the Turbo Xl......My engine will be modified as far as intake, exhaust, and programmer. Is that what you had when you said your 4.0 was highly modified? I was just curious. thanks

 

i got borla on my truck, but i don't know which one because i got it used. i have to say that mine pretty mellow which is ok with me because i don't like flowmaster type mufflers, but i know a guy at my work with a 99' mustang gt has them also and his sound AWESOME!!! i can't complain though because i got mine for like $30

Tell him the restrictive exhaust overtime will cause damage to your valves causing you to need a new engine.

So ask him, which would he rather you paid for, a more free flowing exhaust. or a new engine.

 

Hey Mark I sent you a PM, and now that I realize what problem you're having, I'm not sure I can say anything more than I already did. If dad has a problem though, talk to mom = P

my dad has *****ed about everything i've done to the truck. i dont ever mention to him that i'm doing something until it's done....

but now he actually loves my truck...

 

my dad is the same way sometimes.... but eventually, i just talk him out of it. now he really doesnt care what i do as long as its not illegal.

 

My dad was against everything until he started getting involved. I asked him for help putting some things on and started asking him question about vehicles. Learned a lot and brought him into modding my truck. Now he lets me do whatever I want (within reason).

 

I think im just gonna order it and when it comes just tell him its getting installed next week lol. Plus im working at a goalie (ice hockey) and am going to be making a little extra $$.....roughly 120 for 4 days, which is pretty damn good for just the little work that is involved. So i'll just tell him the money i earned on the side, is going into my truck..... But thanks for the replies....
