borla performance exhaust

i bought mine from summitracing.com for $375 shipped.

single exit side swept.

summit told me it was for a regular cab short bed, turns out borla doesn't have that listed on their site, and summit sent me a extended cab one. i'll post later after i talk to them about how they resolve that with me.

anyways, we sawzall'd about 14 inches of the pipe off inbetween the cat and muffler. it took a lot of elbow grease, and about an hour, but you can make it fit no problem. i used gasket sealer only on the part that we cut, and the other joints we clamped down. it hangs a little funny, and it's really a tight fit, but there are no leaks and no rattling, and i've hit some hard bumps since.

so i'm going to call summit now and see if they have some pipe that will fit easily and properly so my exhaust can hang right.

otherwise, borla is freaking awesome. i noticed immediate throttle response, acceleration seems smoother. it sounds awesome.

from what i hear gibson and other systems have about the same performance enhancements, but from listening to a gibson, and a flow (not on a ranger but still a flow), the borla is definately worth the extra bucks. even if i would've had to save up for longer to buy it than a gibson or flowmaster, it would be worth it.....

well it fit perfectly except summit forgot to mention that it was for an extended cab....i mean it fit perfect.

and seeing my truck is new and will last around 7-10 years, ss won't rust through in that time (if it does they replace it). aluminum will...

anyways...summit told me they don't make the system i bought anymore, and for around $20 i could get the pipe fabricated at a local shop. so i'll wait and see if there is any rubbing or rattling, i don't think there will be.

they don't weigh but a few pounds more. not to be a smartass, but have you ever actually installed or owned one?

I just pulled my Borla kit off and put a Flow on. Just wasn't what I wanted. I had the single in / single out. Just didn't apeal to me. I like my Flow 40 series better
